The collaboration will combine Tech Mahindra's engineering, enterprise transformation, and AI consulting capabilities with SpaceXSI's development platform to help organisations shorten development cycles, improve code quality, and scale AI-assisted engineering across the software lifecycle. The companies will target technology, telecommunications, banking and financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, and retail sectors, with joint go-to-market initiatives and industry-specific solutions.
Grok Build, a coding agent announced in May, works across multiple stages of software development, including understanding technical requirements, generating code, supporting testing, and updating applications. Tech Mahindra plans to use these capabilities across the full development lifecycle rather than for isolated coding tasks. The legacy systems angle matters because those environments can contain millions of lines of code developed over decades, connected to payment systems and core business processes. AI tools can analyse existing code, document dependencies, and assist engineers in rewriting or migrating applications.
"The offering will enable organisations to adopt AI-native development practices while meeting governance, security and compliance requirements," said Sumit Kumar Popli, President of Tech Mahindra's Technology, Media and Entertainment business. Toni Adams, Head of Global Partnerships at SpaceXSI, said most enterprises "don't need convincing that AI will change how they build software" but need help rolling it out "without breaking what already works".
The partnership sits within the SpaceX Super Intelligence Partner Network, which drew more than 130 companies in early access, with launch partners including Nvidia, Databricks, and NTT Data. Tech Mahindra already has similar agreements with Google Gemini and Microsoft, but this marks its first collaboration with the AI arm of Elon Musk's rocket company. Tech Mahindra will establish enablement and certification programmes and train employees as part of the rollout.
BuiltWorld AI Operational Take: The success of this partnership hinges on a single operational question: whether Grok Build can be trusted on legacy codebases where a single incorrect migration can break payment systems or compliance reporting. Tech Mahindra's certification programmes suggest it recognises that risk. Enterprises evaluating AI coding agents should demand evidence that the tooling preserves audit trails and rollback capability before deploying it against core systems.
