Nvidia Supplier Wistron Opens $700 Million Texas Factory, Moving AI Superchip Production to US Soil
The Fort Worth plant has already built the first GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip on American ground and will scale to tens of thousands of computing boards per month, with next-generation Vera Rubin chips also on the production roadmap.
TAIPEI: Taiwan's Wistron launched a $700 million manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, on Tuesday, bringing mass production of Nvidia's most advanced AI systems directly into the United States for the first time. The plant has already produced Nvidia's first U.S.-built GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip, a system Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has called "the most powerful AI supercomputer in the world."
The factory is expected to scale up quickly. Nvidia said production will reach tens of thousands of computing boards per month this year, and Wistron confirmed the site will also manufacture the next-generation Vera Rubin Superchip. The plant has created more than 500 jobs so far and is on track to reach 1,000 employees by the end of the year.
The Fort Worth operation forms part of the $500 billion U.S. investment commitment Nvidia announced in 2025, a pledge that has since become a cornerstone of the company's effort to build a domestic AI hardware supply chain. Wistron, a long-time assembly partner for Nvidia, joins Foxconn and other Taiwanese electronics manufacturers that are expanding production capacity in the United States as AI infrastructure demand strains existing Asian supply lines and as Washington pushes to onshore critical technology manufacturing.
The shift from assembling supercomputers in Taiwan and shipping them to U.S. data centers toward building them minutes from the customers who will deploy them carries implications that go beyond geopolitics. Proximity to end users cuts delivery timelines and logistics costs at a moment when every week of delay in AI cluster deployment translates into real competitive disadvantage.
